Secant
DesignerDaniel Rybakken
A series of minimalist lights by Daniel Rybakken for J. Hill’s Standard, the Secant Collection is defined by hand-cut crystal discs suspended within a refined metal framework. This skeletal structure, formed from lathed, anodized aluminum, links the glass to the light engine and the wall or surface below—creating a striking visual and tactile contrast with the crystal.
The integrated LED light source does not illuminate the disc directly. Instead, it is angled toward the surface behind or beneath the fixture, allowing light to reflect and diffuse back through the glass, softly illuminating the surrounding space.
The Secant Collection explores contrast—between weight and lightness, fragility and force, the handmade and the industrial. Secant is a study in equilibrium, where opposites not only meet, but rely on one another.
