J. HILL's Standard continues to work with exceptional designers to develop new projects in glass that sit outside of our core range of glassware. These pieces explore the properties of glass and provide us with new and enjoyable challenges and collaborations.
Each of the lights function both as a sculptural installation and as a practical light piece. work of Daniel Rybakken occupies the area between art and design, forming limited editions, art installations and prototypes for serial production.
The Secant Project is the first of these.
Together with a mobile installation, the Secant projectincludes a wall, floor and table light and were presented at Palazzo Litta and Spazio Rossana Orlandi during Salone del Mobile in Milan 2016.
"The Secant project is about visual and semiotic contrast; the glassdisc communicates something pure, fragile and elevated in value, whilst the machined aluminium parts and the pulley communicate the industrial" Daniel Rybakken.
Since launch the lights have won several awards: The Wallpaper Design Award for Secant Floor Light 2017 andThe Bo Bedre Design Award for Lamp of the Year 2016.
